"Anger manifests inside
of me. I don’t think I can control it this time. I didn’t ask to be here, and I
have no problem being kicked out of another crappy home. My foster brother, JC,
and the neighborhood punk, Miguel, pick the wrong time and the wrong place.
“Where do you think you’re
going?” JC yells out to our foster brother, Jeremy, who keeps his head down and
walks faster.
“Hey, punk, I don’t remember
giving you permission to walk on my sidewalk.”
I watch JC grab Jeremy
and shove him against the apartment building next door.
“Look at him, Miguel, he’s
such a weak little freak!” They burst into laughter.
My clenched fists are
begging to be released. Here we go again. With a deep sigh, I charge straight toward
them. Neither dimwit notices. I swear, these two are so stupid that one day
they’re gonna get run over by a parked car.
JC draws his arm back
and swings fast. His fist makes impact right below Jeremy’s left ribcage. Jeremy
slumps down, but Miguel holds him up for JC to use as a human punching bag." #1P2K
Foster home to foster home, bully to bully. Johnny didn't choose to be here. It isn't his fault any of this is happening. This is not his problem. But he still has a choice to make. If you were Johnny, what would you do?
